MATERIALS
There is outstanding expertise in Material Science in the South West of England, in particualr in Nanoparticles & Nanocomposites; Biomaterials; Carbons & Graphite; Joining & Bonding; Sensors & Actuators; and High Band Gap Semiconductors & Devices.
GWR are funding 45 PhD studentships in Materials and 5 Research Fellows and has provided the South West with a 'critical mass' in research capacity (particualrly in Aerospace studentships) that ensures the region will be at the fore-front of innovation in this wide-ranging area.
New Frontiers in Materials - World changing science and technology
GWR are organising an innovative new seminar series - New Frontiers in Materials - which aims to expose postgraduates and researchers to high-impact, world changing research in the South West of England. These seminars can viewed 'live' at Exeter, Bath, Bristol, UWE and Plymouth via Access Grid nodes in these universities.
